A few decades back when I used to hang with Texas ranchers they would put it like this:

“THAT boy had one too many years of college.”

My 1st hubby and I-both W Texas ranch kids-learned from the adults how to insult a condescending ass**** without causing a full-on fight-you put on a phony smile and tell him/her thank you-it’s always interesting to meet someone educated beyond their intelligence. It was amazing to see most of those folks just look like a deer in the headlights as you walked away...
