DC doesn’t care if Germany uses Russian gas as long as it goes through Ukraine to ensure everyone else including them gets a cut. Nordstream cuts out sticky fingers Ukraine and DC.
Nord Stream 2 does not go through Ukraine. It is under the Baltic Sea.
