A “don’t purse” rule doesn’t mean they don’t take action. With all of the live surveillance available it is relatively easy for cars to be followed through a city. It is equally easy to direct officers to where the car is headed.
Most people (and especially reporters) are never allowed in the Operations center where the cameras are connected to the dispatch folks. I was stunned at the coverage in my little city. They demonstrated by following a cop car through a tour of the city. We saw the car coming, going, and being handed off from one section of the city to the next.
Of course I am speaking of no pursuits in an urban environment. In a rural area it’s different. Buckhead is clearly a city environment.
Another urban environment in which I am extremely pleased that I neither live in, nor own property there. Minneapolis, Portland, Baltimore, Buckhead . . .
Just purse your lips and whistle...that’s the thing...
