‘“He picked a losing horse,” one North Carolina Republican strategist said, arguing that while Budd’s image as a hard-line conservative and Trump loyalist would play well in the GOP primary, “he’s going to have a problem in the general.”

How did this brilliant unnamed “strategist” handicap the Mark Robinson race for Lt. Governor in 2020? Most of the state RINO’s didn’t think Robinson had a chance. Robinson was not a recipient of the big GOP money, yet he won at the same time the GOP candidate for governor (who was the Lt. Governor at the time) lost to the Democrat who should have been beatable.

Interesting that Democrat Governor Cooper recently stated he would not run for the Senate seat in 2022, a race he believes he can win, because he doesn’t want Robinson to be elevated to the governor’s mansion. Robinson is black, Cooper is white. Imagine if a white Republican governor had made the same statement about a black Democrat Lt. Governor. There would have been an nation media furor and demands for the Republican governor to resign.

Lt. Governor Mark Robinson seems to be the real deal. He is the most interesting and charismatic Republican in the state. Yet it seems he is virtually ignored by the Democrat Governor who won’t meet with him, the state and national press, and the GOP establishment. The GOP should be giving him face time nationally, yet the party ignores an up and coming black conservative.

The NC GOP establishment has given us to RINO U.S. Senators (Burr and Tillis). Most of the GOP delegation in the House of Representatives is worthless. My GOP representatives in the state legislature won’t respond to the average citizen (phone calls, emails or letters). It seems our Republican representatives in the legislature are only interested in serving developers, the insurance industry, and bankers.

North Carolina GOP “strategists” are using the same “safe” political playbook that turned Virginia blue. There is a good chance the NC Senate seat will go to the Dem in 2022 if a Bush Republican is the candidate or a conservative candidate receives only lukewarm support from the party.
