I have never met a “gay” person, job related or not, who is not in some major way dysfunctional.

Correct. And as all of this woke ‘acceptance’ crap has moved to criminalize any kind of mental health therapy that results in a person no longer exhibiting sexual deviancy the result has been as much as a 600% to 1000% increase in the suicide rate among such people.
This is because the sexual deviancy is often a symptom of a larger mental health issue. If that issue gets treated and the inclination to deviancy diminishes or is ended then the therapist can lose their license and even be jailed.
Thus a large number of mental health therapists are unwilling to treat sexual deviants and instead the sufferers are told to accept themselves.
And they go home and commit suicide because their larger problems go untreated.

Mental illness is not generally a pleasant disorder to endure.
I think you answered your own question, correctly and truthfully.
There were (very good) reasons that homosexuals were classified as mentally ill. There was a (very poor) reason they were declassified as such.
