The first recorded use of the donkey to represent the Democrat party was in a Harper’s Weekly cartoon entitled, “A live jackass kicking a dead lion.” While the jackass would be a better mascot, modern Democrats would consider the mascot sexist as a jackass is a male donkey. Female donkeys are called “jennies,” although in Congress they are referred to as “The Squad.”
If one looks at the modern-day Democrat party, including Democrats in elected office and behind cable news anchor desks, the jackass would be a representative mascot. But post-COVID, I propose a new mascot, the simple face mask, a facial covering used to signify virtue, wokeness, and most of all, identify the user as NOT a Republican, conservative, or Trump supporter.
On one of my rare ill-advised descents into the social media sewer known as Facebook, I stumbled upon the below post.
To respect the poster’s privacy, I won’t mention his name or link to his post, but he is a nurse. This is someone who presumably is part of the “follow the science” crowd and understands the uses and limits of simple surgical face masks in stopping a virus that is an order of magnitude smaller than the pores in the mask.
Such a dilemma, which only Democrats seem to face, to wear or not wear a mask, not to prevent infection but to virtue signal their political views and party affiliation to others.
One comment to the post, “BUT... If I wear my mask, people will think I haven't been vaccinated and then they'll think I'm a Trump supporter. Literally fight with myself every time I go in public.” Another comment by a pulmonary specialist was simply, “I agree”. From “follow the science” to “follow the donkey.”

Donkey in a face mask - how is one even secured to the muzzle of a donkey?
They should switch to the Zebra to represent the liberal white and black party.
The mascot for Deep State’s followers ought to be a lemming.
The new Democrat logo should be a condom.
A condom allows for inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of dicks and gives you a sense of protection while you’re being screwed.
This is the absolute truth. The mask nazis were aware that freedom-loving American patriots ***hated*** wearing the mask and were ready to drop it like a hot brick as soon as doing so would be legal. But while mask-wearing was required, the mask nazis reveled in the fact that freedom-loving American patriots found it difficult or inconvenient to express their hatred for the mask (other than to rip it off upon leaving the building of a supermarket or other business and deliberately refraining from swerving off the curb and into the street when passing within three feet or so of someone walking the opposite direction from them on the sidewalk) or otherwise distinguish themselves from enthusiastic mask nazis.
The tide has turned. And that’s a good thing.
I took it a couple steps further. I had a few different masks. One advertised my Presidential candidate, another read “worn by force, not by fear.” That was replaced with one made of mesh.
I never once wore any of them outside. They didn’t go on until I was well o=into a building and came off with a flourish before I exited.
I haven’t worn one in weeks. Since our legal system requires the prosecution to determine guilt, I use the same criteria. It’s us to a store to determine if I’m vaccinated, not my responsibility to prove it to them.
Since they’ve gone full commie, just replace the donkey with the hammer and sickle.
Therein lies the problem. Brian C. Joondeph plays by the "rules". And Brian C. Joondeph will be rewarded by being bitch-slapped by the next leftist that crosses his path.
