Andrew Neil pledged his new 24-hour news channel will tackle cancel culture and will not be 'yet another echo chamber for the metropolitan mindset' as it launched at 8pm tonight.
GB News, which is aiming to reach those who feel 'unheard' by the media, launched at 8pm tonight with a special programme titled Welcome To GB News.
It is the first new British news network in 24 years - since BBC News 24 launched in 1997. Although foreign channels have launched in the UK in that time, such as Al Jazeera English, this is the first new network specifically for UK audiences.
It has brought in big names ahead of its launch, including signing Simon McCoy, Sky News anchor Colin Brazier and new MailOnline columnist Dan Wootton.
Neil, who will present a show four nights a week, is the face and chairman of GB News, announcing its birth last year while also signalling the end of his relationship with the BBC, where he was one of the most respected political interviewers.

Head line not long enough.
America needs that.
Fox is wavering, badly.

Andrew Neil has specifically stated it will not be like Fox News, which is not a bad thing.
As you may know, in the UK you must pay the government a tax to watch live TV. Called the licence fee, the bulk of the money goes to funding the BBC and its leftist agenda. The monthly cost is around USD 20.00.
I stopped paying this tax earlier this year when I decided to watch DVDs and certain online subscription services which escape the tax.
I’ve just connected up to GB News - using a method which should avoid me breaking UK law - and frankly it’s already convinced me it will fail by Xmas.
The older presenters are “tired” and the younger ones are completely out of their depth. It’s like our boring talk radio, but with some pictures.
Discussions at the moment are “Smart Motorways (freeways)” and the “Falklands War”, 39 years after.
I feel better informed hanging out here.
If they’ve been live for two weeks and haven’t broken a story damaging to anybody’s Deep State...
Nuff said.
Based on my fully English grandparents’ Socialist views, the UK is a land of sheep—even worse than our Blue (Commie) states!
They launched yesterday evening (June 13th).

Welcome to FR Mr. Oddsocks (2021-01-14)!
(we don’t stand on ‘Titles’ here.)
The BBC, shown in America as PBS, is remembered only by Monty Python and the British comedy’s back in the day.
The twenty a month fee, while annoying, is not as steep as
Americans paying through the nose for health insurance which
is of no help health-wise but mandatory for all citizens (both those who use and those who do not.)
Can’t imagine paying a tax to watch what is shown on the majority of the US broadcasts. The retail television industry would soon be defunct and gone; just another victim of the Socialist cancer in the world today.
Trouble is though there is no 1st. Amendment in Britain and libel suits are common.
With no first Amendment, it is apparently easy to get in all kinds of trouble if coloring outside the consensus lines. Unlike early precedent in the US, the truth is not necessarily a defense against accusations of libel.
They need it to be like the old pirate radio stations.
The BBC coddled that pervert, Jimmy Saville for decades.
