The Number of Small Businesses Destroyed by COVID Lockdowns Will ASTOUND You
PJ Media ^ | JUN 13, 2021 | VICTORIA TAFT

COVID shutdowns championed by U.S. governors and D.C. bureaucrats are responsible for destroying nearly 40% of small businesses since the virus was unleashed on the world—and we know now that it was for little to no damned good reason. A study by the Proceedings of the National Academies of Sciences revealed recently that shutdown orders made little to no difference in COVID’s impact.

...

While bureaucrats gave Walmart, Costco, Lowe’s, and other big-box stores “essential” status, allowing them to stay open during the COVID pandemic, 38.9% of America’s small businesses, the providers of most of the country’s jobs, were forced to close based on fear, hackneyed social-distancing rules, early ignorance about transmission, and an insatiable desire by governors to micromanage the affairs of men.

In short, small businesses could have operated the entire time, exactly like big-box stores did, had it not been for tyrants in statehouses and mayor’s offices around the country destroying lives in the name of “science.”

...

Most of the destroyed businesses were in the hospitality industry.

The states hardest hit were those dependent upon those industries: California, Florida, New York, and Washington, D.C.

Some governors, among them West Coast governors Gavin Newsom of California, Jay Inslee of Washington, and Kate Brown of Oregon, still refuse to give up the emergency powers invoked during the pandemic so they can drop the hammer on people’s freedom at their next whim.

...

Small businesses –- those with fewer than 500 employees -– are 98% of the businesses in America. They are responsible for 62% of all U.S. jobs. Fully 89% of these small businesses employ 20 or fewer employees. They are the backbone of job creation and an expression of American enterprise, entrepreneurial spirit, and individualism.

How did Hillary put it? “I can’t be responsible for every under-capitalized business in America!” Especially the ones than don’t contribute to the DNC...

Covid didn’t destroy those businesses, rogue government did.

No surprise to me. I need only drive around locally and observe all the shuttered businesses. Those are just the businesses that had store fronts. There are plenty more that never had a walk-in customer base.

I have no sympathy for any of these small business owners. They’re all brain dead wimps for following orders and listening to their COVID obsessed wives.

Brave NJ gym owner, Ian Smith, is real man. He’s still in business.

I had a person on this very forum tell me that the number of businesses going under was vastly overblown.

I couldn’t believe it.

Guessing those with fewer than 50 employees took the brunt of the Rats’ charade.

That was the intent of the lockdowns. Small business owners are largely conservative or at least oppose big government and all the regulation that goes with it. Small business is the enemy of totalitarians.

For the more backwater states teetering on solvency even in good times, it was like an economic atomic bomb went off.

How much money does small business give to government? How much money does big business give to government? Anyone wanna bet Kate Brown, Jay Inslee, and Gavin Newsom will be on corporate boards when they are out of office? Anyone???

No worries, the government loves and cares for you. Biden’s economy will be awesome until the one world rest and there is an established prince of this world.

Until then, expect more division, more hostility and more “lepers” of society. The new untouchables.

A small business is defined by 500 or less employees?! That must be a typo and it’s 50, correct?
