Illinois and Texas. The Daley Machine brought in a LOT of late night votes from Chicago, enough to carry Illinois. LBJ supposedly had a similar machine in Texas. If Nixon had won those two states, he would have ended up with 270. Even with some southern state electors not voting Kennedy or Nixon, the 270 would have been enough for Nixon to win the election.

Read the history. JFK got a winning number of ECs the same way Biden did, i.e., via cheating in Daly’s Chicago. Ghost and dead voters turned out, and old Joe paid well. JFK bragged and laughed about it. Joe asked Jack, “You didn’t think I was going to buy you a landslide, did you?”
