The interesting thing is that if there is a variant that is susceptible to the vaxxine, we don’t need to worry about it. However, if there is a variant that is NOT susceptible to the vaccine, it was likely created BECAUSE OF the vaccine.
Many scientists argue that vaccinating in the middle of a pandemic could actually CAUSE it to mutate into a variant which has a substantially different spike protein that is not picked up by the vaccine anitbodies.
Many people say this is very stupid. Since people really can’t get it again any time soon, some experts argue that we should wait until the pandemic dies down and then vaccinate everyone who has not yet had the virus.
This way, there is less likelihood of it mutating into several different variants to escape the vaccine, which would require several new vaccines to combat each of the non-susceptible variants. By mass vaccinating while it is actively hopping from person to person. We are encouraging it to mutate.
Although.....that scenario would probably be pretty good for the pharmaceutical companies.....hmmmmmm
