Former President Trump on Tuesday applauded Nigeria’s Twitter ban and called on other countries to follow suit.
Trump praised the West African country for banning use of the social media platform after the Twitter suspended the account of Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari for comparing gunmen attacking national electoral commission offices to the Nigeria Civil War. The company deleted the tweet, saying it violated their abusive behavior policy.
“Congratulations to the country of Nigeria, who just banned Twitter because they banned their President. More COUNTRIES should ban Twitter and Facebook for not allowing free and open speech—all voices should be heard,” Trump said in a statement Tuesday.

Try to imagine one of the Trump kids dropping the n-word.

If Nigeria blocks Twitter how will Nigerian princes get their inheritances?
I would guess that many if not most on the Twitter board of directors are not American, or if they are, it’s the
“Apology Tour, type of American, deeply ashamed on their perceived priledge.
the Federal Republic of Nigeria, is a country in West Africa.
Twitter NAZIS banned me. I sure don’t give a damn about them. Hope they all finds themselves out of work someday.
Well if Twitter doesn’t like it, they can build their own Nigeria.
good one
I assume Jack Dorsey, based on his current look, will out himself/herself as a transgender. Don’t know what his baseline is or was.
Trump is hobbled by his laughably poor understanding of the Constitution and the intent of the Framers. If governments can ‘ban Twitter,’ then governments can ban Free Republic or any other internet site they finds objectionable. The answer to Techno Oligarchs is not less speech, it’s more speech.
The proper reaction to Twitter’s conditional application, based on partisan interests, of its own rules is to exempt it from all the protections it enjoys that were created by Congress to help foster a free and open exchange of ideas on the internet. That’s how Twitter’s issues are resolved, not by ‘banning it.’
The inconvenient truth is Trump says a lot of stupid things.
You are aware that Trump decided to shut the blog down on his own, right?

Trump understands completely. Government is outsourcing totalitarianism to Big Tech because it gives plausible deniability. Useful idiots will excuse their unconstitutional behavior and continue selling them the rope they are using to strangle our 240 years of American Heritage.
Yes he’s bad. He tweeted himself a loss, and mistook Covid for a joke.
Those two things, just those, lost him his 2nd term.
You or I could be banned for this, but that’s how private sites work.
If you could, please address my central point. If the government can ban Twitter then why can’t the government ban Free Republic?
BTW, there are few - if any - things about government and constitutionalism that ‘Trump understands completely.’ In October of 2019, he ordered the withdraw from Syria. On Election Day 2020, the US had more troops in Syria than it had in October of 2019. How did that happen? Trump didn’t (and still doesn’t) understands how the military works. He failed to select civilian leadership that shared his same world view. And - most unforgivably - he never inspected what he expected, and he likely had such a thin understanding of the workings of the federal government, had no idea how to inspect what he ordered even if he wanted to.
So, when Twitter comes along and bans him and millions of others it finds objectionable, his reflexive reaction is to ‘ban twitter.’ That’s not how someone who ‘understands completely’ addresses problems with our foundational principle of Free Speech. That’s what a guy says who has no idea how to fix the problem. He is often his own worst enemy.

Absolutely. And no doubt Trump directed the FIB to spy on his campaign and hide Hunter Biden’s laptop for a year while he was impeached. /s
The Constitution is a dead letter. Killed by 5 years of a fully biparitsan coup. Seeking refuge in it is a fools errand. There’s no going home from here. Plan accordingly.
I’m a major Trump fan, but I recognize his limits too.
