The 1960 Cubans had European ancestors. They were Cuba's professional class and business owners. They voted heavily Republican.
The 1980-2021 Cubans have Caribbean and African ancestors, and they vote heavily Democrat.
Venezuelans are probably a lot better to take than a lot of other Latin/South Americans. They have been inoculated against socialism by Hugo Chavez. I can tell you the Venezuelans in Florida are fiercely anti socialist.
You did not read the article. "These people" are threatening, looting, and assaulting Texas residents in four counties, are destroying private property, and are in theft of public services. They are NOT the people you seem to be wishing they are.
Or is Maduro releasing his dregs like Castro did in 1979 with Mariel?

I wasn’t the one judging. I think most that want to escape Cuba, China, Venezuela or any socialist or communist nation are likely to make great citizens and appreciate the freedoms we have in this country regardless of their skin color.
Hopefully, these Venezuelans won’t vote Dumb-O-Crat, or they will be subjecting themselves to the tender mercies of the same kind of people from whom they just escaped.

In 1960, Cuba was the wealthiest country in the Caribbean, and probably the wealthiest country in Latin America on a per capita basis.
When the Europeans left, free enterprise and wealth creation left with them.
