It’s MAGA versus the mainstream in Tuesday’s GOP gubernatorial primary, as two candidates who adhere to the ideology of Donald Trump face off against a former state assemblyman who fits the pre-Trump Republican mold. The contest is particularly notable because it’s the first statewide election in the country since the November presidential contest (Virginia also has a gubernatorial election Tuesday), and so it might serve as a test of whether Trumpism has staying power.
The winner faces Gov. Phil Murphy, a Democrat who does not have an opponent in his party’s primary. Murphy is relatively popular in this blue state, but only 48% of respondents in a recent Monmouth University poll said he deserves a second term. Plus, he’s up against history: An incumbent Democrat hasn’t been reelected governor in New Jersey since 1977.

NJ is still sending out mail in ballots and have not removed many of the drop boxes. This says all that needs to be said.
No, it's a democrat primary. Terry McAuliffe will win.
“two candidates who adhere to the ideology of Donald Trump face off against a former state assemblyman who fits the pre-Trump Republican mold”
which is EXACTLY how the RINO/GOPe scum win ...
Sure, it’s the dem primary, but that’s where Virginia’s elections are decided. Republicans are a mere afterthought in Virginia.
Phil Murphy shouldn’t be elected dogcatcher.
I grew up with Jack or Chet as we called him in high school. I now live in VA and while I like both Rizzo and Singh, Ciattarelli is pretty strong on the 2nd Amendment and has many conservative views. He has a decent chance to oust Murphy because of his likability and his ability to think on his feet without referring to notes and teleprompters. He is certainly better than Christie.
That was my first thought; but it’s 29(GOPe)-23-8 with 38% undecided: https://newjerseyglobe.com/fr/poll-shows-close-race-between-ciattarelli-singh-for-gop-gubernatorial-nomination/ (Which is not to say that Mr. Eight Percent shouldn’t drop out.)
Met Jack and he’s been working at it for a while before the pandemic but he’s really NJ GOPe and no one among them is for the Second Amendment.
They allow restrictive illegal action against the right to bear arms.
I’m going with Hirsh Singh who has Brad Parscale helping him. Full on MAGA!
Hirsh would bloody up Murphy and break his nose in the campaign right out of the gate.
Jack will run a typical GOPe campaign and IMHE, lose.
“NJ is still sending out mail in ballots and have not removed many of the drop boxes. This says all that needs to be said.”
Looks like only by request. I received a sample ballot with instructions to report to my usual pre-pandemic polling place. No mail in ballot was automatically sent.
I’m voting for Hirsh.
Republicans held a primary in district 82.
The voting was held for a House Delagate and it was at a beautiful Church.
The sizable crowd was enthusiastic, friendly, happy and it was the first time I thoroughly enjoyed voting.
Incidentally it was yesterday June 5.
Voting for Rizzo
I think I will vote in the Demo primary against McAwful.
Vote in the Dem. primary.

THE IDEOLOGY OF DONALD TRUMP EXPLAINED
Yep... VA-82 is a very conservative district. BTW, the former holder of that seat, now-VA Sen. Bill DeSteph, is a neighbor of mine to some NC property I own just south of the VA border. His is just to the north side of the line.
I love Bill and am so happy to see Jason is our candidate, also.
You are lucky to have such a neighbor.
Regards
An afterthought, I was shocked when Luria won against Taylor.
Do you have any insight on that?
I think there was some manipulation in that case.
