"When I got up there I went for the handshake and I wasn't thinking nothing of it.."
You wasn't? Sounds like your wheelhouse.
They love their country so much they will fight tooth and nail to prevent being sent back there.
My father was born in Corato, Italy and came here through Ellis Island when he was about 13 years old. He refused to let his only child - me - to learn Italian because he always said we are Americans.
Kool.
My shanty still stands after 200 years. Now is a tool shed
Looking at the the huge caravan that headed North a while ago, the marches often displayed their countries flag not ours. Show you how stupid we are.
If his country is SO great, why did he have to leave there to get an education??
At left, in 2004. Then at right in 2013, after the klieg lights, vacation sunshine and years of halo glow.
Was it truly a "perfectly creased pant?"
How hard did Barry have to work to be an Indonesian muslim versus how hard his handlers tried to make him a counterfeit black?
Exactly...my German immigrant great grandmother REQUIRED that we stand when the National Anthem came on TV in her home. And I have the US Citizenship papers of my Great great great grandfather where he had to renounce his allegiance to another country. These idiot/morons are ungrateful leeches.
F*ck you, Lopez. You are not “too good” for the rules that everyone else follows. You are wholly unworthy to be here at all.
Listen to the student’s statement. It is evidence of the education system’s failure to teach critical thought.
He had his dem endowed special privileges.
I haven’t heard that term in YEARS. It brought a grin to my face as it reminded me of friends who were Irish and they used it. My family is Italian so I never knew what it meant.
But they ended up telling me. LOL
Thanks for the smile.
I think it is pretty much a normal practice most everywhere now. I suspect it is possible this student didn’t understand how it works and then he and his family flew off the handle, raised hell and made a public scene causing backlash right there and then.
I can’t see any other reason they would have to be immediately escorted from the event unless they were disrupting it. Now there is a stand off because of it. But you are right, I agree that they do have to legally give it to him as earned even if it was with U.S. taxpayers dollars and not funds from Mexico.
It is still a snub at and lack of appreciation for U.S. opportunity and taxpayers dollars.
Thing is... They did indeed “ceremonially” hand him his diploma without objection even though he had this flag. They publicly acknowledged his earning and receiving his diploma before he raised hell.
Exactly.
But, apparently he thinks the Mexican flag is his flag and that Mexico IS his country. There-in lies the problem with so many kids today due to our education system — they are not taught about this great country and when they are it is to say that this country is the root of all evil in the world.
The High School is near the state zoo.
He’s not ready for that diploma anyway.
Same thing here.
My paternal grandparents came through as young adults in 1908. Grandpa refused to teach us Italian. “You are American! You speak American! Italy never did anything for this family...America did! Forget about Italy.”
That conversation took place more than 70 years ago but I’m pretty sure that quote is verbatim.
Ours were in the holders, but not in order. After the ceremony, we gave them to the right classmate. There was no diploma in mine...just a note to go to the office the following Monday.
One of the “Good Guy”* teachers had a list with explainations for why some of us didn’t get our diploma. As with most who didn’t get one, mine was being held because I owed some $5 lab fee.
*.....he hand wrote the list himself in order to let us know what was up. He could have just gone home like the other teachers.....but he didn’t! There were still some decent human beings that taught in 1962.
