Pretty savage picture, but I thought she was a drug mule and was executed for that. I’ve seen this picture before.
There’s no way to be reasonably sure she was guilty of any real crime since there’s no due process, no free press to report on the case, and none of the protections we have here. For all we know she’s being executed for hosting a prayer meeting, or for having one too many kids, or for failing to satisfy a guy with better Party connections. There’s no way to verify truth there, where no evidence is needed except a coerced confession.
Our system has massive problems and is headed that way, but the communist system she was under makes ours look angelic.
This was originally posted a year after the Square incident, and was billed as dissidents from the protest. There were two more but this was the only one I saved, and yes a few weeks later the Chinese government explained they were violent drug gangs who smuggled drugs. Unfortunately all three pictures were women being shot, no “Violent dug smuggling men”.
