I don’t understand why Russia and US couldn’t be strategic allies at least. I know about Bay of Pigs and Cold War. But it seems there have been major shifts in geopolitics since that time.

Russia is the worlds largest Christian nation (Orthodox like Serbia and Greece and do not fall under the temporal power of the church of Rome. And the largest White nation Great white hope?)
