Arizona Republican Governor Ducey vetoed 22 bills on May 28, including measures relating to election integrity and Critical Race Theory, arguing that lawmakers need to focus on passing a budget.
“Today, I vetoed 22 bills. Some are good policy, but with one month left until the end of the fiscal year, we need to focus first on passing a budget. That should be priority one. The other stuff can wait,” Ducey wrote on Twitter. The governor, a Republican, said he won’t sign any more bills until a budget is passed.
He threw a McCain-style hissy fit.
Just another GOP backstabber. The party is full of them.
They got to Ducey a long time ago.
Does the Arizona sun bake peoples head so much that they lose 20 points of IQ?
The left must have something on him.
Does everyone now see that Ducey is a Bush League Republican?
The "other stuff" was already done. He thinks we are idiots.
He is on the side of the coup.
Well, Ducey, sign these bills that you claim to support, get it out of the way, then move on to the budget.
McCain / Flake RINO bump for later....
Election integrity is now crucial for Americans to keep their rights. He has no interest in that.
Someone posted to me on another thread that the chain of Cold-Stone Creamery ice cream stores he owned are all over China. Makes you wonder.
And, no, the ice cream wasn’t good. Bland at best.
Again, I come back to recruiting. The same people who convinced Doug Ducey and Asa Hutchinson to run for governor are the same people who are running the Republican party in Washington D.C.
These are establishment picks. These are not people who share the same values as their constituents.
I can’t really fault Ducey for this. He has generally kept government quiet and efficient. If you consider his reason for these vetoes, it was not because he disfavored those bills, many of which he likes. It is because the legislature has been passing bills that it likes, rather than because it has to, like the budget.
The legislature has been dilly-dallying. Budgeting is really hard work, and they would much prefer to slack off and do easy stuff.
In past his vetoes, including here, angered others, but they were for obvious things, like bad grammar that ruined the bill, or elements that were clearly unconstitutional or illegal.
I think th left have something on every single zipper-lipped repib, ican who refused to stand up for election integrity
I with you!
Bye, il Ducey.
Rino sightings increase in Arizona. Can the legislature override his veto?
