Miami Police Chief Art Acevedo, who used to lead the Houston Police Department, called a new measure approved by the Texas state Legislature that would allow people to carry handguns without a license "ridiculous" and urged Governor Greg Abbott to veto the bill.

That is because our media is not about conveying truth. They are about propagandizing the Democrat narrative. They revel in being not correct, but politically correct.
Agreed, for example Vermont has had permitless carry since becoming a state in 1791 and there certainly has not been much if any violence in that state for all of those years (although a bit of an upswing since Burlington decided to become a “sanctuary city” a few years back).

I kept waiting for the CBS guy to ask the chief this simple question: if concealed carry was against the law everywhere in America (with a permit or without a permit), how would that have impacted what happened in Miami, Dade County regarding the mass shooting at the rap party?
Most of what the chief said was complaining about the lack of action by the DAs and the courts regarding how the criminals were being treated prior to trials actually taking place—not about concealed carry.
The chief also lamented about the burglary of a gun store should be a federal crime. Really! Where does the chief think that the criminals obtain the majority of their guns: from street theft (vehicles and homes) or from burglarizing gun stores.
