Why would Keyshawn Johnson, as the Associated Press reported earlier this week, walk off the set of his national radio show in apparent shock and disgust at Tim Tebow signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars as a backup tight end?
Why would ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith and many other media figures rail against “White privilege!” when Urban Meyer, Tebow’s college coach with the Florida Gators, signed Tebow to play on his hometown NFL team?
Why does there seem to be so many people rooting against Tebow — one of the most caring, compassionate, benevolent, big-hearted, philanthropic, altruistic role models in the history of sports?
I’ll be the first to admit, I don’t think “The Great Tim Tebow Tight End Experiment” is going to work in Jacksonville and I don’t think it’s a good idea when the Jaguars are embarking on an exciting new era with Meyer as the head coach and No. 1 overall pick Trevor Lawrence as the starting quarterback. However, you better believe I will be rooting loudly and proudly for this experiment to work and for Tebow to be a resounding success.

They hate Jesus. And the LORD. HES just a symbol to hate
I love Tim. He’s AWESOME. GREAT CHRISTIAN ROLE MODEL
So, what is your point? Make some sense if you are going to take my time to read your junk.
Easy, both are racists. Is this that hard to figure out?
Urban Meyer was successful at Bowling Green, Utah, Florida, Ohio State. He knows Tebow, he would know how to utilize his skill set. He should be successful in pros. He knows how to judge talent.
Dont forget, Julian Edelman was a college qb also.
NFL is not gonna be watched by me. I hope Tebow does well, earns a boatload of money and uses it wisely.
Just a other plantation negro doing his masters field work. Pathetic.
He made the requisite pro-BLM/anti-Trump comments last year and his Christianity is, thus, excused.
I find all of these Black whiners disgusting.
I think they’ve been a bunch of thankless wretches.
Where would Oprah be today if her ancestors had been left in Africa?
Where would they be if WHITE MEN had not DIED to FREE their ancestors?
F’em I have heard enough of their whining and RACIST bullshit!
Whites have been enslaved by Blacks!
Oh, but I forgot.
Teaching history is racist.
HOW CONVENIENT.
Love this guy. He’s a great guy.
Didn’t do much for the lowly Jets and you know what, who cares!
Hope he makes the team as a tight end.
Love him but the level needed for QB in the NFL wasn’t there.
Wished otherwise but it wasn’t in the cards. Hope e can make the squad in this transition. No matter how he makes it, I’d take it.
Let’s go taxi squad. 🗣
He never had much of a chance in Denver. The offensive line was a sieve. No soon had the ball been snapped and defenders were all over Tebow. He still got them to the playoffs.
Exactly this. Casual observers just can’t appreciate how much more space college receivers have to operate compared to pro receivers and the challenge that presents to QBs making the transition. Everything about the pro game is faster and tighter.
Nonsense. He was a mediocre quarterback and was dropped for that reason and that reason only. Kurt Warner, Phil Rivers, Russel Wilson, Carson Wentz are all current or former quarterbacks who were unabashed Christains who made no secret of their faith. The difference between them and Tebow is that they could play the position at the NFL level and Tebow couldn't.
They are not hating him they are hating God. And they are not simply hating God they are actually hating Jesus who he represents.
I think I recently read that Tebow had about 4 completed passes for over 30 yards each in a playoff game, as a pro.
I guess purests consider that to be indicative of a defective throwing motion.
True, dfwgator.
There are significant performance differences between college and NFL players in many of the skill positions.
Maybe. Maybe not.
I guess purests consider that to be indicative of a defective throwing motion
The week before Tebow went 6 for 22 for 60 yards and one interception against the Kansas City Chiefs. The week before that he was 13 for 29 with three interceptions against the Bills. That's indicative of a defective throwing motion. And an inability to read the field and react on the fly. During his 11 games in 2011 Tebow was flagged for delay of game seven times, more than any other QB, and almost never audibled. According to coaches Tebow's biggest failings was not his mechanics or his inability to read the field, many rookies have a problem with that their first year, but his inability to realize he had a problem to begin with and see to need to change the way he played the position.
Tebow wasn't a horrible QB; a lot worse QBs have lasted longer. But he was, at best, a backup QB and having a backup who the mob thinks should be starting is not the kind of position teams like to be in.
Yes, good point. I had forgotten - thanks for the reminder.
