You are correct that the discussion over qualifications, among other issues is not a waste of time. But the endless discussions of how to photoshop a BC were a complete waste of time.

And we are a banana republic now, not because of an alleged photoshop but because of an attack by China and subsequent theft of an election by the dems.

In a stronger Republic with an American culture, I agree we wouldn’t have to resort to that, but with the media in full control, there wasn’t much else to do but multi task (even with minutiae)and hope.
