LOS ANGELES (AP) — California is giving away the country’s largest pot of vaccine prize money, $116.5 million, in an attempt to get millions more inoculated before the most populous U.S. state fully reopens next month. Gov. Gavin Newsom on Thursday announced the prizes, which also include the nation's highest single vaccine prize: $1.5 million.
California's reopening is pegged for June 15, and on that day a drawing will be held to award 10 vaccinated people the top prize .
Another 30 people will win $50,000 each, with those drawings starting June 4. Anyone 12 and older who has received at least one shot will be eligible.
And the next 2 million people who get vaccinated will get $50 gift cards.

They are doing this in several states.
They’re giving out prizes? I thought people were being threatened with loss of job and livelihood if they didn’t get the “vaccine.”
I remember when you could get those cute little juice glasses at the gas station.
This is all absolute insanity. It’s perverse insanity.
I smell the sour aroma of despair and fear.
Well, they brag post, about these experimental shot lotto give-aways, on the FR vax update threads :- /
Not kidding.
It's so corrupt. Ohio is getting around it by labeling it a "Drawing" instead of a "Lottery", so I suspect California is doing the same. And they are using Federal dollars earmarked for vaccine promotion. Of course, this comes out of ALL taxpayer money, but only some are eligible. It's a total scam and waste of money...it irks me to no end how elected officials are able to get away with this nonsense.
Well here in Cheap Arkansas our governor is giving away $20 Scratch off lottery tickets or a $20 Gift certificate toward a hunting or fishing license. Big Wow!
Yes, lets bring bring S & H Green Stamps, I remember those as a kid, everyone did those things.
Trickery and jackassery.
