Most Chinese live in the rural areas and make less than 400 year average. bringing the average income down to 400 - City born live under different rules. Are you a wumau?

They definatly make more that $400 a year and their number is heavily decreasing each year, but “two Chinas” is exactly the point I make. The “second China” is that source of growth, both in form of new workforce seeking inclusion into an industrialized economy, and as consumers when the inclusion takes place.
All in all the absolute minimum wage in the most depressive place like Jiangxi is slightly under $200 which by the way is enough to cover basic needs. That is not $400 a year.
An established white collar in Shanghai makes not much less than his Western counterpart.
You can like China or not, but it makes sense to get real.

They didn't abort all, or even most. The female imbalanced will be handled: men with good jobs will get wives, low-income men won't. Perhaps they will redistribute the Muslim Uighur women to them after they kill off the Muslim men.
That's why the birth rate stays low: the wife has to work in order to help support everyone, and they cannot afford kids.

What people? The people making $400 a year anywhere aren’t in a position to share their situation with you.
In fact the only figure I could fit your $400 regarding China is an official poverty line per member of household. It is not wage.
A family of 5 in rural area with an unemployed mother and a father on minimal wage of $175 a month fits into the category, except much less than half of the Chinese live like that, more like under 5%.
Governemnt benefits aren’t included in calculation by the way.
I think a larger portion of the US population don’t make $400 per family member a year.
