Fortunately, my dad retired during my early teens, and instilled work ethic by denying privilege that my mom had pretty much just let my brother and I have. Thanks dad. Anyway, he also realized how susceptible I was to an ass beating, (even after I had thinned up and developed as a teen) gave me some self defense training, taught me how to tolerate pain, and took me shooting. Thanks again, dad. Another plank of the Demomarxists, replace dads with government largesse and "protection".
I just remembered that when my dad was showing me how to defend myself, he told me that I would probably still get an ass beating in a fight, but they wouldn’t last as long LOL. Real good sense of humor, my old man had. Turns out he was right, sumbitch.
lol. We had a bit of an opposite experience. My Dad was based state-side and then got deployed over seas when I was 13. My mother, who grew up in the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl in TX, did the raising from then till I was 17. She taught me how not to be a barbarian, which is what I would have become. There was a boy down the street from me who incessantly picked on me and about twice my size. I had learned by that age to deal with guys bigger than me but this guy was a good fighter. My dad’s advice “Go get your baseball bat”. Which I did, and used to great affect. However, probably not the best advice..lol.
