Several decades ago I ended up seated next to a Representative in the state legislature on a packed commuter flight. There were three men traveling with her who wanted to sit where I was, but I said no. I got to listen to their chatter for about 45 minutes. It was all about getting money, how to, where to stick in bills, how to move it from where it was stated to where they wanted it, etc. While nothing was illegal, it was an eye opening experience. No one was interested in whatever the legislation was supposed to accomplish, only what they could stuff into it for themselves.
