... As President Joe Biden undoes Trump immigration policies that he considers inhumane, he faces a major question: How far should he go to right his predecessor’s perceived wrongs?
Biden halted “Remain in Mexico” his first day in office and soon announced that an estimated 26,000 asylum-seekers with active cases could wait in the United States, a process that could take several years in backlogged courts. More than 10,000 have been admitted to the U.S. so far.
But that leaves out more than 30,000 asylum-seekers whose claims were denied or dismissed under the policy, known officially as “Migrant Protection Protocols.” Advocates are pressing for them to get another chance.
Many asylum-seekers whose claims were denied for failure to appear in court say they were kidnapped in Mexico. Others were too sick or afraid to travel to a border crossing in a dangerous city with appointments.
Immigration has bedeviled Biden as it has many presidents before him. He backs a path to citizenship for an estimated 11 million people in the country illegally, has halted border wall construction and has repealed other hardline policies.
The administration has yet to say if asylum-seekers whose cases were denied or dismissed under “Remain in Mexico” will have another shot. When asked, aides have emphasized Biden’s promise of a “humane” asylum system to be unveiled soon.

Covid, disease free.....right!
Joe you flew them to Chattanooga and parts unknown......
...that is not humane to us!
May God have mercy on this nation.
And I praise Him.......He wins!
Hardline? More like common sense policies practiced by every other civilized country in the world including Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Poland and Canada.
The stark reality is that something like 70% of the world's population would like to immigrate to the United States, if they could, and we control a mere 4% of the world's land area.
I’m not sure how this is done, and, there probably is no specific pathway. But, it’s necessary that whoever takes leadership of the next conservative government, should seek to institutionalize conservatism. The crudest way to do that is to convert judgeships into conservative seats. But, Trump was mislead in that effort. What he accomplished there was probably better than it otherwise would be, but he did not appoint judges wo would support the type of government I’d like to see.
I read an article on the Keystone Pipeline. It turns out there was a way Trump could have made the pipeline decision un-reversible. By handling his approval the way he did, it made it easy for Biden to cancel it. (No, I don’t recall the details.)
A trend towards conservatism might look like eliminating the financial hold the federal government has on virtually everything. In Florida, to get some extra highway funds, Florida had to agree to write X number of tickets per year for not properly wearing seatbelts. Federal money forces states to do things that are not necessarily in the interest of the citizens of those states. The federal education establishment is another example. It is being used to push critical race theory. Want internet for your school? Then, you have to teach white children to hate themselves.
It would take a well planned and executed program over a period of years and with careful attention to the adders on every piece of legislation. (Not easy when they run into the thousands of pages and millions of words.)
WHAT is a "US Immigration Team Lead" and WHY does the AP have such a designation?
Until America is destroyed...rhetorical question. The problem is that these genius commies think they'll be running things when that happens. They should be thanking Trump for rallying them, but the Chinks will summarily dispatch them...keep your eye on Cali!
That number never changes.
Sounds like a lackey for the cheap labor lobby bought and paid for by the U.S. Chamber of Commies.
And no TB. No mumps. No rubella. All very educated ready to pay taxes and assimilate. We are screwed. Prepare accordingly.
I think God is giving America what America has been clamoring for all my life, viz. to be purely humanistic and secular. God refuses to dwell in a spiritually filthy house.
King Saul repeatedly disobeyed God. 1 Sam 16:14: But the Spirit of the Lord departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord troubled him.
God warned Israel what would happen if they disobeyed God.
1 Kings 9:6 But if ye shall at all turn from following me, ye or your children, and will not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods, and worship them: Then will I cut off Israel out of the land which I have given them; and this house, which I have hallowed for my name, will I cast out of my sight; and Israel shall be a proverb and a byword among all people:
And it happened. God gave the northern tribes to the Assyrians and the southern tribes to Nebuchadnezzar.
We allowed the humanists/sectarians to erase Christ from our schools. That was the beginning. Now we murder our unborn. (Cf. the jews making their children "pass through fire." No difference.)
We promote and applaud and protect homosexuality. God has spoken on that. (Gen. 19, et al.)
The list goes on.
A famous man once said, "You're not going to like what comes after America."
We're seeing it now, and we don't like it.
What sane country imports at warp speed as much poverty as it can?
