Imagine knowing you won your seat in office by fraud, and that most voters actually don’t want you there..

It would result in extreme arrogance from supposedly "elected' reps. Since they would have contempt for the voters they would do things like build fences around the capitol, call out the National Guard to protect them, and try to ban firearms.
