Texas Governor Greg Abbott has vowed to sign a bill into law that would punish the state's largest cities if they decide to follow Austin and 'defund' their local police departments.
In a tweet sent out on Sunday, the Republican governor cited a shooting incident in Austin, where it allegedly took police officers 16 minutes to respond to the crime scene and render aid to a person who had been shot in the head.
'This is what defunding the police looks like,' Abbott wrote. 'Austin is incapable of timely responding to a victim shot in the head.'

This is not a conservative idea or decision.
Removing local control is most unconservative. If the local voters don’t like what their city council is doing, they can get off their dead asses and run to replace them. Most of these lefties get their first office because there is no opposition.
They get the government they voted for.
Agreed. The next governor could require all cities TO DEFUND the police. Local means local.
How about a bill that monitors and controls the movement of every Federal Law Enforcement agent in the State?
How is this going to work? Is he going to set a per-capita requirement for police funding? Are there going to be mandatory minimums? This sounds like bullshit feelgood legislation.
