“If you accept the premise, which is very strongly supported by scientific evidence, that it was not deliberately mutated and deliberately changed, and you say, if it was in the wild and evolving, the likelihood it jumped species naturally, someone will say, ‘Well, maybe somebody took it from the wild, put it in the lab, and then it escaped from the lab.’ But that means it was in the wild to begin with!”

That’s a poorly constructed strawman argument, apparently designed to ridicule. Those that hold that the virus escaped from the lab are relying on circumstantial evidence (e.g. the proximity of the origin of the outbreak to the lab) and on statements from alleged witnesses.

...circumstantial evidence (e.g. the proximity of the origin of the outbreak to the lab) and on statements from alleged witnesses.

Might as well add the three lab doctors that sought medical treatment for flu like symptoms immediately before the outbreak. Or maybe even the Chinese covering up and not releasing data.

Enough circumstantial evidence to convict in a court of law.

Well, there’s also the behavior of the suspects to take into account.

Fauci and the CCP immediately confounded the two possible scenarios of lab escape, and then did everything they could to thwart any attempt to investigate the labs. And to lie and obfuscate when it came to the research that was being funded at those labs.

And then, they sent Peter Daszak who acted as a cutout for the NIH funding to “investigate” the labs under consideration.

The whole thing stinks to high heaven.
