Former Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA), who served as U.S. Ambassador to New Zealand under former President Donald Trump, said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that the Capitol rioting on January 6 “diminished” Trump’s presidency.
Anchor Dana Bash said, “Mitt Romney said former President Trump incited the Capitol insurrection. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said Trump is practically and morally responsible for what happened. You’re a former senator and ambassador. do you agree with them that Trump bears responsibility for the insurrection?”
Brown said, “Yeah, absolutely. I mean, he bears responsibility. I think his presidency was diminished as a result of that. And I think he’s paying a price. He has been impeached twice. He was impeached for those actions. A lot of the great things he did, working on China, getting the vaccine out, got it developed right away, looking at what he did with Iran, Russia, and in the Indo-Pacific specifically, during the Christchurch attacks in New Zealand. I mean, all those things are by the wayside now. That is why it’s imperative to find out what role everybody played and figure out why.”
On watching the riots unfold on television, Brown said, “I thought it was either an action movie, a banana republic, some type of dictatorship. I was embarrassed. I was angry.”

It’s funny…just a few short years ago Freepers we’re calling him a “magnificent bastard” for winning the senate seat in MA.
We are a fickle group.
I’m not. When we were peaking with Covid cases he was talking about the election.
I think Brown is wrong. I don’t think people blamed Trump for the violence, but there was a problem, just not what Brown said it was, and we should under no circumstances let Brown or the Dems whitewash Democratic malfeasance by saying people blamed Trump for it. I’m pretty sure they were mad at him over Covid and all of the conspiracy theories, but I don’t think they blamed Trump for the violence.
Scott Brown is Susan Collins in pants.
Agree, 100%.
THAT is what/where the REAL fear was, with this evil swamp.
For ANY R to agree that PDJT was in any way responsible for anything to do with the Dem insurrection, is just, reprehensible.
The blame belongs squarely on the Dems and complicit Rs. Not Trump.
What “peaking with COVID cases” do you refer to? More cases of motorcycle deaths being called “deaths from COVID”?
One term dipstick.
Working People’s Party? What kind of asshat communist socialist-marxists leninist b.s. is that? Seriously!
Right I forgot Trumpism populism our socialism is better than their communism rah rah MAGA MAGA trust the plan.
WTH has happened to this forum? This used to be a place for real conservativism real liberty freedom constitutionalism.
Now it’s convoluted socialist nationalism fascist populism and other right winged marxists crackpot ideals of sorts.
I’m conceived fully Trump’s a plant a psy-op plant who was brought in to fully undo American conservatism for good.
You globalist have sold US out... go snuggle up to the Bush/Cheney pimps, in a faux ‘compassionate conservatism’ hoodie.. Conservative means, individual personal responsibility, not gated community fencing.. God, family, and country.. do you even have a clue why the Heavenly Father had it penned twice. ‘Jacob I loved, and Esau I hated? President Trump’s most redeeming quality is ‘love of country’... and you braying jackals try and make it a thing of evil.
Either this is a fabulous opus or you missed the sarcasm in the post you were replying to.
I’m leaning towards it being the former . . .
Pelosi and the mayor of DC incited the riot by repeatedly refusing permission for NG to keep the peace and assigning minimum security on the entrance. Capitol police have been filmed repeatedly inviting people inside. I’m not sure when in the timeline it occurred, but word of Ashli Babbit’s assassination surely wouldn’t have helped the mood of the crowd either.
Talk about a set-up
ah, well, cutting someone off from all media tends to create that impression, n'estce pas? on the other hand, in America, we had some people who entered the Hallowed Halls of Government, and didn't burn or completely trash things. Most walked between velvet ropes, admired statues and the architecture and took selfies. Additionally, we had no army regiments called out to shoot people down in the streets enmasse --- as would have occurred, and has, in just about every other country on earth. Which the former job-hunting ambassador to NZ should be fully aware of and should rather have highlighted as to how America handles freedom, and freedom of expression protests differently. It was, in short, a dignified protest - except for the assassination of Ashli Babbit, and a bit of glass window and a few papers strewn on the floor by the usual class dunces, that is. Certainly not comparible to the burning of Kenosha - a real banana republic moment.
100%
Our peak was between November 3, 2020 and February 18, 2021 with a peak of a quarter million a day in January.
Hey Scott brown, gfy!!!
Well the Jan 6 thing happened on tv and is against the backdrop of months of violence that happened in people’s home towns. Big difference between the news you see Katrina’d on tv and stuff you see on streets you know with fallout that continues months with zero coverage.
We are finally fed up with faux-conservatives. Scott Brown helped usher in the homosexual transgender madness in the military. Perhaps he and Abbott in Texas can transition together
Thanks for outing yourself as a leftist.
You may return to DU.
Thank you for having the courage to ‘be there’ on Jan 6 to....truly...peacefully and legally express your right to freedom of speech! Media and cowardly politicians continually call it an insurrection and refuse to acknowledge the thousands that peacefully and legally protested.
imho, Trump did not incite or cause riots and lost because devious Dems aided by media allies are well skilled in manipulation.
