Former Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA), who served as U.S. Ambassador to New Zealand under former President Donald Trump, said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that the Capitol rioting on January 6 “diminished” Trump’s presidency.
Anchor Dana Bash said, “Mitt Romney said former President Trump incited the Capitol insurrection. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell said Trump is practically and morally responsible for what happened. You’re a former senator and ambassador. do you agree with them that Trump bears responsibility for the insurrection?”
Brown said, “Yeah, absolutely. I mean, he bears responsibility. I think his presidency was diminished as a result of that. And I think he’s paying a price. He has been impeached twice. He was impeached for those actions. A lot of the great things he did, working on China, getting the vaccine out, got it developed right away, looking at what he did with Iran, Russia, and in the Indo-Pacific specifically, during the Christchurch attacks in New Zealand. I mean, all those things are by the wayside now. That is why it’s imperative to find out what role everybody played and figure out why.”
On watching the riots unfold on television, Brown said, “I thought it was either an action movie, a banana republic, some type of dictatorship. I was embarrassed. I was angry.”

All those governors, mayors, US congress critters, and district attorneys, encouraging the riots and refusing to prosecute offenders is what allowed the riot to continue.
Florida has it right: Shoot the rioters.
Scott can shove it.
He’s a Massachusetts “republican”. Who lost his election to Liawatha. So, we shouldn’t be surprised the media run to the likes of that guy for comment about President Trump. Nor, should we be surprised he gave the media exactly the comment they wanted.
I would like to know the “reason” most of the attendees to the rally on Jan. 6 went there. I wanted to go but failed to get a ride. My reason for going was wanting to show the size of Trump voters and encourage him after it became clear that the election had been hijacked. He has so many followers who love him and he needed to know that in person. The Antifa planned and infiltrated the crowd. I got reports from people in the crowd complaining about it. The break in at the capitol was planned and assisted by Dems inside and Antifa outside. RSBN’s live video at the capitol showed who was doing the breaking and I could hear some Patriots screaming, “It’s Antifa! Stop them!” at those who were breaking the windows. Trump followers should join together and sue whoever started the lie that Trump followers broke into the capitol.
He probably needs a job. This was audition!
This guy served 4 yrs in a seat he won after Kennedy died.
The pension rules in Congress require 6 yrs.
Expect him to look for a House seat anywhere he can find one.
Trump was reduced by appearing to worry about himself rather than the country toward the end of the campaign and in the days following it....
Seriously??
He was fighting a swamp who hated him, and had impeached him, TWICE along with a STOLEN election. And, NO ONE else in that God-forsaken swamp was fighting for, or with him, very loud.
And, you say he ‘appeared to be worrying about himself, instead of the country’???
How better could he have stood up for, or ‘worried’ about the country than to right an unprecedented coup/stolen election??? What are you suggesting he could have done any differently in those ‘last days of the campaign and days following’??
Unreal even seeing this.
Yep.
Loser on a grifter scale.
In addition, I think that Trump should not have listened to his worthless advisors, but followed his own instincts, declared insurrections in all of these places where the riots were happening last summer, and sent in the military to quell the riots and arrest everyone involved (including the politicians). I think if all these bad actors been cooling their heels in Gitmo, this fraud of an election might not have happened.
Mr. Trump’s problem was that he was too nice. If he does run and win in 2024, I think we will see a very different President Trump.
You got it!
Go away Scotty!
I bet if you talk to voters in your district they will tell you the same. After everything he had gone through, much of which we probably can only guess at (bugging of the White House? Crossfire Hurricane? Media collusion? Uniparty and Rino traitors, etc?) but the b*stards did knock him off his game. What he went through was unprecedentedly awful, yet because the GOP failed to effectively fight back, it stood.
One thing that does seem unlikely, though, is Brown’s assertion that Trump was blamed for the Democrat insanity. Chuck Schumer, Adam Schiff, Nancy Pelosi, Kamala Harris, Maxine Waters, and any number of elected officials in states like Minnesota all have voters who saw who was to blame for this, so yeah there was a problem, but don’t listen to Brown because the Democrats own the lawlessness.
Wrong. We exist.
Oh yeah he was too nice. I don’t think he understood just how hard the weasels were coming for him because it was so insane.
Isn’t this the cat that lost Lizzy Warren?
Nuff said
No need to start off with a nonsequitur; there are no perfect people. But attributing the lies of the MSM to him as if they were true is unfair at best.
His legacy gone by the way side? Because of Jan 6th lol. His legacy is going to look like incredible in a year or two after Biden wreck the nation.
He won in spite of whatever misperceptions some choose to believe about him. The steal was quite real and even today the swamp is scrambling to keep it from being uncovered.
Too nice? Compared to what/whom?
They still have those?
Haven’t watched any since Brinkley left.
Scott Brown should go back to posing naked in homosexual magazines. It’s the only thing the loser can manage
