When I see government advise not to kiss or hug a chicken or put gas in a plastic bag, i chuckle. Then I realize that they issue that warning because people are doing it. What happened to common sense?

Many eons ago when I was just a pup, we used to hang a bleach bottle full of gas on our lawnmower handle a go around the neighborhood mowing lawns.
The old bleach bottles were quite heavy duty and made a good one gal. gas can.

I looked up "chick" with the (slang) meaning of "girl" or "young woman" in the Oxford English Dictionary. The earliest example they have is the 1927 novel Elmer Gantry by Sinclair Lewis. Next example after that was from 1957.
