I would go to a chiropractor over a general practitioner because medicine has become institutionalized. There's no such thing as a private practice anymore because of the cost of malpractice insurance thanks to lawyers. As a result, doctors have to adhere to the treatment protocols of the institution they work for. There is no thinking outside of the box. Big medicine is about big money. I was recently chatting with cardiologist who admitted that "a lot of what we do could be treated with lifestyle changes." The hospital he works for has a pharmacy. He's not going to prescribe supplements for high blood pressure because it would cut into their profits.
