With some heavily funded, well-crafted, and frequently aired advertising (not to mention much distortion from the national media) Bouchard's youthful history would be a much bigger deal, even with those who voted him into the state senate. His earlier indiscretions would be a much larger liability.

And, there would be a larger, and different pool of voters, one suspects. And, we're talking two elections, the primary and the general.

As an aside, but as a reasonable comparison, do you recall Missouri Sen GOP nom (and totally selfish ignoramus) Todd Akin? He made a nonsensical statement to the effect that women who were raped were not likely to get pregnant.

I knew at the time that this would become the story, and if he did not bail, then the dreadful McCaskill would keep her senate seat. He did not and she did.

Predictable? With certainty,

This issue is not going anywhere. I am sure most of his congressional district constituency know all about this already. He’s been standing for elections and winning long before now
