The drama coach considered me so promising that he suggested that he and I go to Hollywood together and get in the movies. He knew the ropes. I had the talent.
It was a temptation.
However, I thought about the sleazy influences to which I would probably be subjected, the casting couch for example, and declined the invitation.
I was wise. I'm so glad that I was.
There does seem to be some sort of correlation between women getting drunk and popping pills, and then getting naked, and later crying.
Salma Hayek has been doing nude in films since she was a teen.nothing new for her. What skill does she think she has that has made her popular?
Nothing special but a great body.
Baloney. Trying to recapture lost virtue that never existed in the first place.
My sympathy is limited, because they all went ahead and did it anyway. Then came back for more.
Some would have more respect for them if they were to say “yeah, so what?” instead of now trying to have it both ways.
They also know there are 100 pretty young actresses who would jump at the opportunity if they said no. They had choices and it’s only after they are rich and famous that they whine about making the wrong one.
Q: What's the difference between a whore and a rooster?
A: A rooster says "cock-a-doodle-doo!" A whore says "any cock'll do!"
I think most of them knew that going to bed with Harvey Weinstein was the price to pay for stardom. And they knew if they wouldn’t do it, there were plenty of other actresses who will.
Choices:
1) Go to bed with Harvey Weinstein and become rich and famous.
2) Don’t go to be with Harvey Weinstein and go back and kick around in your hometown.
Choose one.
As if gratuitous onscreen nudity and sex in Hollywood is something new and unexpected. These actresses were whoring themselves out well before they got on set. The #MeToo movement has more to do with money and power than sexual harassment.
Had they read the script? What did she think she would be wearing during that steamy, and likely unnecessary, scene?
These people insist we believe they’re smart enough to tell us how to think, and vote, then they show us they aren’t so smart after all.
“But somehow they bring themselves to do it and then cash the check.”
They cried all the way to the bank.
LOL!! Haven’t heard that one in a long time.
That reminds me of a joke - a man walks up to a woman in a bar and asks if she’ll sleep with him for $1,000,000. She says “yes.” Then he asks her if she’ll sleep with him for $10 and she says, “no, what do you think I am?” He says, “we already established than now we just negotiating.”
They protest too much.
Just turn down offers that involve nudity.
Have a hard time buying Reese Witherspoon’s objection. She produced “Wild”, and IIRC, she herself bought the rights to the book and made the film happen. It was a rather shocking performance from her, and I think she intended to break her girl-next-door image.
LOL! That does not apply strictly to actresses either.
Money, amazing stuff.
It’s self abuse.
Maybe you don’t feel sorry for a person who cuts themselves on purpose, or abuses alcohol, etc. I am not as sorry for them as a true victim, say someone who was assaulted or poisoned.
But yes they are being encouraged and hyped to abuse themselves for money and fame. The whole Hollywood zeitgeist sweeps you along. The idea of saying “no” when you finally landed a Big Role and the cameras are running and the crew is impatient and your fellow stars are like “what is your problem “ sweeps you along and you try to be a big girl and go along.
Of course you’ve damaged yourself. It’s your fault I guess. But I don’t think we should be paying people to abuse themselves. Some responsibility lies in those encouraging and paying. It’s a debauched industry.
