ABC15 has obtained a copy of a letter sent by Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs to Maricopa County in which she threatens to de-certify the county’s election equipment that was handed over to the audit by the Senate subpoena.
In the letter, Hobbs said her office “consulted with election technology and security experts, including at the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, regarding the appropriate next steps, and each unanimously advised that once election officials lose custody and control over voting systems and components, those devices should not be reused in further elections.”
At the end of the letter, Hobbs advises county election officials that should they chose to reuse the equipment, they will begin the de-certification process.
Maricopa County’s election equipment was first used in 2019 for a Madison School District election. When they performed as expected, they were leased to the county shortly afterward for the cost of $6.5 million.
A spokesperson for the Board of Supervisors says attorneys are now reviewing the letter to determine what it should do next.
New election machines are expensive. The price tag mentioned is $6.5 million.
Katie’s a DemoCRAT.
Democr@p “Hatie” Hobbs, spewer of Twittsewer bile against President Trump.
The Soviet World of Pretend strikes again.
Those machines could never have been certified by any true process, ever. So sure, decertify them and throw them in the trash where they belong.
Preventing the use of the equipment in future elections seems like a bonus not a problem.
She must not have got her cut of the graft.
Threaten? THREATEN????
We are far past the need for threats. Go ahead and pull the trigger and de-certify. I am thinking that if one state does, several others will follow. Politicians do not like to stick their heads out but they will move in packs if someone leads.
Stolen elections are expensive, too. . . .
Use only paper ballots and in-person voting with ID.
Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs needs to have her memory wiped, get rebooted and get a new load of s/w that works.
Some nice hardball. BOOYAH!
Exactly.
Then mandate the necessary co-equal bipartisan human oversight so there is no doubt about the results. (Along with extremely severe penalties for corrupt election practices.)
So maybe now that all the cheat secrets will found out on the Dominion machines, the rats want to go to a new vendor.
She can’t really think trashing Dominion manipulator machines is going to make any Republican unhappy can she?

Effing idiot. You didn’t lose control by producing them to the governmental agency that has oversight of the process.
However, you did lose control over them when you let Dominion do anything it pleased.
I’m surprised she’s threatening this.

Every office machine can be re-purposed to become a rifle target. So it’s not a total loss.
Didn’t they already lose custody when they gave up password and root access to Dominion?
