Never changes. The hill country has been overrun by people from Cali, they aren’t any better than people from Austin. Migration always destroys. Peoples little utopia will change once politicians invite business and money in. Abbot is doing a great job in getting Texas taken over.

I wish they would want to create a new state instead. Might as well play the same game as Rats want to do, but be successful at it. One Republican house member and two Republican senators would be better than strengthening the already red state of ID.

The Constitution Prevents that, or a least makes it much harder.

Article IV, Section 3: New states may be admitted by the Congress into this union; but no new states shall be formed or erected within the jurisdiction of any other state; nor any state be formed by the junction of two or more states, or parts of states, without the consent of the legislatures of the states concerned as well as of the Congress.

To form a new state, they would need approval from Oregon and Congress which is unlikely. However, there's nothing specifically in the Constitution that prevents parts of one state breaking off and joining an existing state.

If they wanted to form a new state, it would be easier to 1st break off and join Idaho, then after that try a form a new state (I'm sure Idaho would be more willing to let them go).

I disagree with you about Governor Abbott.

There's no need to join another state or form a new state. Just declare themselves "Sanctuary Counties" and ignore any law from the state government or Federal government that they don't like. The state and the Feds have no say because they already accepted that when states declared themselves "Sanctuary States".

You’re probably right.
I’ve been locally advocating for the southern and western counties of Virginia to secede from the state and either join with West Virginia or form another state entirely. Most people are receptive to the idea but doubt the viability due to the legal expenses involved because the question would have to wend it’s way to the Supreme Court. That is one large chunk of money for lawyers.

Let’s not denigrate the law-abiding, intelligent animals in a zoo by comparing their zoo to Philadelphia.

The multi-step approach works for me.

Reminds me of California. The politics of uber-lefty San Francisco and Los Angeles dominate the state. Some blue in San Diego and the Sacramento area too.

Rest of the state is solid red.

Thanks for the lesson - I've wondered, as an Idahoan. I've read some history on how these state lines were originally drawn. All politics, common sense not so much.

A great divider (maybe even into CA) would be, west of the Cascades, as far south as you want (Lefties). Inland Northwest could hash out the rest or generally keep existing lines (OR/WA, WA/ID, OR/ID). Or maybe eastern WA and OR would want to combine, not sure.

One of the problems I see with what the OR counties are doing is the sheer size and diversity of the land we're talking about. That's a lot to ask Idaho to bite off and would have an overwhelming effect on state politics (good or bad, who knows).

Current circumstances might change the balance of the question of what is "Possible".

This treachery we see, can only be stopped by decisive action at the State level.

The last time there was this much hatred and vitriol in this country a shooting war broke out. The problem is I don’t see how we can avoid it again.
The evil that is progressivism/socialism/communism sees the endgame in sight and they are pushing with all their might.

You are correct that this must be fixed at the state level. The question is if a democrat administration, unelected bureaucrats, the swamp will let us fix it. They don’t want us thinking for ourselves or looking out for our own interests.
Interesting times.

They may think that themselves, but they are still bringing bad habits with them. Too many self-identified “conservatives” from California grew drunk on funding things with bond initiatives and tax increases. When we were in California I never voted “yes” on any bonds or proposed taxes. But even “conservatives” in California were guilty of supporting the mortgaging of our children’s future.

And now they are bringing that crap here to Idaho. Post Falls just barely passed an education tax levy that is only going to end up promoting SJW BS and costing our children. Pre-COVID that wouldn’t have passed here, but now that California “conservatives” are flooding into the Post Falls prairie, they are up to their old spending habits. I’d rather have eastern Oregon than Orange County Republicans that can’t keep their hands out of other’s pocketbooks.
