By September, or so, in 2015, Trump was leading the field. But he was only at 30% or so...a level he stayed at virtually through the entire Primary process. People here (I think) and certainly on the left kept saying: “Fat chance for Trump, when 70% of Republicans don’t want him”.
He got 88% of the Republican vote in 2016 (and 94% in 2020). Funny how polling works...
