A 4-year-old boy found dead in a Dallas street was kidnapped while he slept, his distraught mother said.
The boy, who suffered multiple wounds from what police say was an “edged weapon,” was identified Sunday by his mother as Cash Gernon, WFAA reported.
The “happy-go-lucky” boy was sleeping when a suspect, identified by cops as 18-year-old Darriynn Brown, barged into his home through a back door and kidnapped him on Saturday, his mother said.
The boy’s grieving mom said he had no idea what allegedly led Brown to target her son, whose body was later discovered in the street by a jogger early Saturday. The teen suspect did not know Cash, his mother told the station off-camera.
Surveillance video also captured the kidnapping, the boy’s mother said. Investigators asked neighbors Sunday for any additional footage to help them piece together what happened, WFAA reported. Some nearby residents told the station Brown was regularly seen in the city’s Mountain Creek section.
“Hard to believe,” neighbor Jose Ramirez said of the boy’s slaying. “I don’t think [Brown] was in his right mind.”
Cops scoured the neighborhood over the weekend after finding the boy’s body, Ramirez said.
“They were back in the alley, looking through trash containers to see if they could find any type of evidence,” he told WFAA. “They went down the street, and they spent a good time down there.”
Another resident, Katie Guillen, dropped off flowers at a makeshift memorial where the 4-year-old’s body was found.
“It’s just so sad that someone woke up this morning and lost their child without a warning,” Guillen said. “How do you throw away someone’s body like he’s nothing? He’s someone’s kid.”

This.
Just reading the first few lines of the story, something sounds awful fishy about this.
Just like the killings of a white couple in Knoxville a few years back by a group of blacks. The couple was raped, tortured and butchered. I haven’t heard if any of them got the death penalty, but all of them should fry.
The Knoxville killers got the death penalty - it’s just a matter of how long it will take the state to carry it out. Wait long enough, and a future BLM-allied governor could pardon them for their service to the cause of racial justice.
i agree with you....i am waiting for more info.
Thanks. That case was horrifying.
Only one of the Knoxville killers is still facing the death penalty, IIRC.
“What about this?”
It’ll barely make the local papers. Whitey is truly expendable.
WOW! He earns a field promotion from Capt Obvious to Major Duh !
Horrible. A question comes to mind. Did the boy’s mother call the police when the guy barged in the door? The article reads as though the body was found and then the kidnapping reported.
‘Folks should be sure to read the very last paragraph of the article.’
It says evading arrest, but I couldn’t find anywhere what the arrest was for...
One article online reads that the woman was not the boy’s mother but his guardian. That is probably why his twin was placed somewhere else.
Very little details and I kind of hate myself for this but I think the guardian was involved.
I can’t find any articles stating when she notified the police. What I have read makes out as if she only had contact with them after his body was found. The remark about the security footage seems off to me. You have a security camera but your door is weak enough where somebody can just barge in?
Definitely more to this story....locally, we’re just waiting for the next shoe to drop. Right now, the politicians & race baiters are scrambling to cover up any inconvenient facts. Before they’re through, it will be Trump/Abbot/Cruz fault 🤬
“Before they’re through, it will be Trump/Abbot/Cruz fault.” No doubt. Such a dreadful, heartbreaking story.
The twin brother’s name was “Carry.”
What a tragic story. In Texas, when you kill, we kill you back!
Proceed, with due haste, proceed!
This bizarre, random event sounds like something one would do while high on mushrooms or LSD.
Research suggests they’re also useful for treating PTSD.
