Looking to history the military taking over is the most common path. Examples are Spain, Greece, and Chile. The left is very aware of and are making sure the military is under their control.

Communism according to Marx was never meant to be instituted in a more undeveloped/mostly still peasant country. It was to be a takeover of mostly industrialized, already highly developed countries with a lot of intellectual elites turned left by love of the Marxist ideology (such as are the current circumstances in our Country). We are ripe for it, the perfect storm.
The Russian revolution was a fluke, and a crime of opportunity brought about by unique circumstances at the time of WWI. The Marxists took what they could get, and the poor folk of Russia were the vehicle they used to institute their socialist ideology. But Marxism was really meant for a society such as ours. Highly developed, and ripe for the plucking.
