The Biden administration was slapped with a lawsuit on Friday after Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton launched a suit countering changes to the state’s federally funded portion of Medicaid last month.
In April, the administration rescinded a Trump-era eight-year extension to provide billions of dollars in federal funds annually for Texas’ uninsured residents, which was set to expire next year.
While the move does not revoke healthcare funding through 2022, Paxton called it an "unlawful abuse of power aimed at sovereign states."
"The Biden Administration cannot simply breach a contract and topple Texas’s Medicaid system without warning," he said in a Friday statement.
Texas has held a waiver agreement with the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services since 2011, which reimburses hospitals for the "uncompensated care" provided to uninsured individuals along with innovative health care projects.
The Trump-granted extension would have continued funding for hospital reimbursements through 2030 but would have dropped the innovation funds allotted through the waiver.

Follow Texas in what?
Allowing itself to be held hostage by Fedzilla?!
I called BS on all that Texit talk a while back for just this reason.
Note to Texans, and Floridians, you all have some hard decisions to make.
Choose wisely.
The bill for signing on to that “Expanded Medicaid” is coming due.
‘ The Trump-granted extension would have continued funding for hospital reimbursements through 2030 but would have dropped the innovation funds allotted through the waiver.’
Can anyone interpret what the end goal was here if this is true? The article states that they are prioritizing uninsured patients (illegals) over innovation technologies to be funded such as an integrated patient record with imaging systems. Stating Trump is more sensitive to providing healthcare to illegal aliens instead of allocating funds towards integrated healthcare systems innovation sounds suspect.
Texas is a border state but the Feds are responsible for immigration enforcement.
If the Feds allow millions of illegals into your state, then who should foot the bill for their healthcare? Will it be the state taxpayers burden or the federal government?
Texas at the federal trough!
Illegal aliens come to the U.S. for a number of reasons, which include them getting free government stuff. When an illegal gets hospitilization in Texas and other states and doesn't pay - guess who pays? If you answer "the federal government," you've drank the kool aid. There is no such thing as "government" paying for anything. The AMERICAN PEOPLE are who pays for ALL government programs and government debt.
We are $29,000,000,000,000 in debt. Back door government payments to illegal aliens represent just a fraction of our money that goes to foreigners and partisan boondoggles.
We are being led by incompetent and ignorant men and women who have enslaved us with insurmountable debt. Congress and the President should be tried for treason for fiscal malfeasance, which is leading to our nation's demise.
THEIR HOMELANDS RECEIVE HUGE REMITTANCES FROM THEIR NATIONALS IN THE US.
MANY ARE MUSLIM SAVAGES WHO HATE AMERICA AND HATE CHRISTIANS.
THE AFRICAN NATIONS ARE ALSO FOREIGN AID RECIPIENTS SLOBBERING AT THE US PUBLIC TROUGH,
It would be Feds in terms of Medicaid reimbursement.
My focus was much more on the articles coverage of cutting funds for ‘innovative healthcare technologies’...2 separate things. I actually work in healthcare systems integration so I was curious why the article seems to indicate Trump was cutting those funds but championing healthcare for illegals. I’m a massive supporter of Trump so was just curious of others interpretation of this article. It doesn’t seem truthful.
Dependency upon the fed by the state is not much different than the individual.
Get hooked on federal funding...
Get enslaved by the fed.
I would say it is much easier for the individual to be weened from their addiction to federal money than it is for a state.
“Can anyone interpret what the end goal was here if this is true?”
Governor Perry didn’t do too many things right in Texas (he made the Bush’s look like populists) but he had the right instincts in both Obamacare and Common Core.
He correctly figured that CC was a ruse (although the ‘educators’ figured out a workaround and got CC into our schools anyway), and he correctly figured that the Obamacare-related Medicaid bribe for expanding its reach was also a ruse, even though both had the carrot of ‘free money’ from Uncle Sam. So he opposed both. So I suspect that Biden’s people are NOT HAPPY regarding Texas still not ‘expanding’ Medicaid, and now they’re starting to turn the screws.
Texas should have seceded.
