The dropping numbers of cases and hospitalizations seem to indicate that it is already happening. We have been on this latest downslope about a month now - it is looking strong.
There has been no big effect so far of folks skipping their second shots - only a pretty small margin.
Herd stupidity is more accurate.
I agree, though really try to keep a science mind about all this. I have some minor questions about potential confirmation bias or control bias in the numbers. We had a pretty steep drop off in the summer of 2020 too, but it came roaring back in the winter. Of course all of that was before vaccines, but it could theoretically have to do with fresh air, sun and vitamin D. It seems we as a country peaked in 2nd week of April, but even among those numbers it was mostly in the northern states where there is greater prevalence of Vit D deficiency. Just a curiosity. I am hopeful this is permanent and next up, we can help the rest of the world.
