It’s beginning to appear much more likely that Dr. Makary was spot on with his assertions in mid February.
This thing will be essentially all over but the crying by Memorial Day.
I was very encouraged with what I saw though. The campsite was full of people and there was not a single mask to be seen. One campsite was hosting over a hundred people for a birthday party and we were all gathered around the fire (they invited everybody) with a live band playing as well.
Going into the local stores to get supplies (namely beer and ice) practically nobody put a mask on. At the 7-11 outside the camp gates, even the employees working there had no masks. It was like normal times again.
I mentioned here a few days ago how I went into a truck stop in Connecticut on the way up there and all the truck drivers came in with no masks. They are more strict in Connecticut about that sort of thing but none of the employees were messing with our truck drivers! So I pulled my mask off as well.
I tend to agree that by Memorial Day (and almost certainly by Independence Day), this mask-wearing nonsense will be over. Yes, we will still have the compliant sheep wearing them but they will increasingly look more and more stupid and eventually they will have to give up out of embarrassment.
The strength of our herd immunity will continue to grow through both natural infections and vaccinations, driving down transmission rates further and further.
The end is nigh.
