Life becoming more expensive? Better blame inflation
Riverdale Press ^ | 05/09/21 | GEORGE SILOS

Recently, I was approached by members of the Coalition of Concerned Legal Professionals, who in addition to their verbal pitch, gave me one of their flyers.

An objective stated in their flyer was to provide legal help to those who could not afford lawyers. They could have added the professions of doctors and dentists as not being affordable as well.

Instead of focusing on why people can’t afford the services of professionals, the emphasis was on providing free or low-cost services to those in need.

We are a nation that increasingly focuses on effects rather than on causes. Consequently, we change very little.

Low-income people cannot afford the services of professionals because of inflation. Inflation is a form of theft that affects all of humankind. It goes unpunished because the public has little concept of its cause or consequences.

An extreme case of inflation occurred in Germany as a result of the Treaty of Versailles, in which the German government was asked to pay an amount of reparations for World War I, which could not possibly be attained. The German government decided to print billions of marks to pay its debts, and the mark became worthless.

The effect on German society became catastrophic.

Additional quote from the article:

"We have become a society that cannot afford itself, and conditions are getting worse because influential powers benefit from this inflation.

"For those who believe in large government, increases in inflation result in more people in need of government services. As the bestower of minimum wage increases, the government garners votes while increasing dependency."

Inflation never seems to be stated accurately. I guess it depends on what group the gov’t. is trying to impress. I think can safely guarantee that the retired person trying to live on Social Security is not suitably impressed with what they claim as the rate of inflation. What is this based on?

I would say based on history and anecdote.

I haven’t trusted the government’s public numbers on inflation for quite some time (e.g., the basket of goods and services they choose to use in their calculations). And it’s hard to find broad inflation news other than at the level of the Fed pronouncements, so IMHO a bit of a solipsism there.

I have seen articles on the price of lumber, supply chain disruptions, etc., but the problems are masked (see what I did there?) by COVID-related issues.

The anecdotal I’m hearing is getting more widespread.

For example, check Zillow for house prices - mine went up $10K in one day. Smaller sizes at the grocery store. Meat and gas prices up. etc.

Will the leftists soon push government price controls? As part of The Great Reset?

Is this the work-up to it?

I was hesitant about it when Trump did it, too. But at the time the “fog of war” about the pandemic swayed me to let it go. Now I’m way less sanguine about it.

The bigwigs know all about the history of inflationary spirals, but they’re doing it anyway. Causes me to think they are doing in on purpose, and they have an endgame in mind about it, to whit: Government control of the means of production.

This guy makes one big mistake. The areas he said cannot be automated, will be automated soon enough. People don’t realize how quickly AI will build upon itself, expanding at exponential rates.

I could easily imagine AI dining: Order online, robot assembly, cooking and packaging, “automat”-like pickup.

And like a good bartender, the computer would always remember how I like my vodka gibsons.

Individual savings became worthless. Society descended into chaos. And the government collapsed.”””

Whoa! An upside!

The government would love to have us blame our economic misery on this mysterious external force known as “inflation.” Rising prices IS inflation. Blaming rising prices on inflation is like blaming wet weather on rain. There is no mysterious external force. Government is the main reason for rising prices. Government issues dollars which have no intrinsic value. It floods the market with them, all the while telling us it is helping us.

As prices rise, so do the “economic indicators” and some mentally deficient people think that it’s a wonderful thing that the sacred DOW has reached another number with a lot of zeros, or that the average salary has risen again.

Inflation renders one’s savings valueless, making the person dependent on government. It allows the government to pay back its obligations in devalued currency. It raises tax rates through “bracket creep.”

The ruling elite is protected. It has automatic cost of living increases. Retired people see the result of years of hard work shrink down to nothing.

Inflation is defined as “too many dollars chasing too few goods”.

My advice to all my family has always been,”Pay yourself first and live within your means.” Worked for me.

Retired people see the result of years of hard work shrink down to nothing.

The Carter Admin. was a classic example. It wiped out retirement plans wholesale. 16-18 percent interest, inflation. Couldn't afford either Billy Beer or peanuts.
