The US military is not on our side and hasn't been for decades. Not even while Trump was in office.
People may naively join out of patriotism, but really just hired muscle for various moneyed interests. In effect a colonial police force for them. Also a federal jobs program.
OK sometimes they do good work in disaster relief.

Thank god my days in the military ended long ago.
The US military is another huge government bureaucracy. Its all about who sits where, activist government politics, and insiders and corporations dividing up the spoils of $700 billion year.
In spite of all that money and hardware, this state of organization combined with the decadence and division among American society, I can’t see how the USA will ever again be able to engage in a conventional war.
