Pressure increases for US to send vaccines to Latin America
The Hill ^ | May 4, 2021 | BY LAURA KELLY AND RAFAEL BERNAL

Rising rates of COVID-19 infections in Brazil and other countries in Latin America are posing a risk to the U.S. in its own battle to overcome the pandemic.

Advocates are pushing for increased efforts to support global vaccinations, especially in poorer countries, while Latin Americans of means travel to the United States to take advantage of a surplus of shots.

The Biden administration has provided an initial down payment of $2 billion to the global COVID-19 vaccine alliance (COVAX); shipped emergency materials to India to help stock up its vaccine development; and “loaned” millions of vaccines to Mexico and Canada.

Democratic lawmakers have called on the administration to prioritize Latin America in receiving any surplus of vaccines, but officials are tight-lipped over making any immediate and pronounced commitments.

In Latin America, attitudes toward vaccination have more or less mirrored those in the United States, with some people eager to receive inoculation and others either distrustful or politically disinclined from taking the vaccines.

But the lack of available vaccinations has added complexity to the process in a continent that hosts some of the world's most dense population centers, as well as some of the most difficult-to-access remote areas.

Good grief...

Before you know it, there won’t be enough vaccines to fill the (lack of) demand in the US.

One other reason to tell my liberal acquaintances.

“I'm skipping the vaccine so our poor comrades in South America can get it instead.”

They want the United States citizens to pay...that's the bottom line. I listened to the head CEO of Google saying when being interviewed about India's plight with covid now....”Only the United States can help resolve India's problem”.....and I've heard other International Leaders say this country has to do more.

They will milk this country dry between covid vaccines and climate change...and conflicts.

US and foreign experts should develop plans to most effectively utilize the exported supplies to control Covid spread, most especially of variants.

Long haul truck drivers and those interacting with them should get a high priority.

Market sellers and those interacting with them not living in the same locality probably should also get a high priority.

India ran a economic surplus against the US of about $28 billion in 2019.

Lots of software is developed in India.

India is the “pharmacy to the world” according to one BBC newsperson because of all the generic drugs India makes.

More than Taiwan.

More than Saudi Arabia.

More than twice Germany’s.

More than four times that of the United States.

Brazil - $347 billion.

India has major issues with distribution of anything....they do not have an infastructure nor those capable of sustaining one to fix all the problems their country has. The public itself isn’t of the mindset to correct their habits like trash, and relieving themselves everywhere....

You can send India all sorts of help but it’ll never get where it needs to go.

How about we send the Indian H1B work visa and green card scumbags home in exchange for covid-19 help?

Fair trade.

Then bar Indians from the US for at minimum 30 years.

The only “pressure” to send these experimental treatments to Latin America is from the drug companies who can’t force taxpayers to pay for them here in the U.S. since so many are refusing them.
