Israel reported only 13 new COVID cases on Saturday, the lowest number in about a year, with only 0.1% of 9,236 tests conducted yesterday coming back positive.

It doesn’t seem that we will do as thorough of a job with vaccination in this Country, but I think that we will get enough done to drive the disease way down soon.
That combined with the mild weather and the general population spending much more time out of doors.

I’d say we’ll get there before the month is over.
The high rate of vaccinations we had to start with just couldn’t be expected to continue.
2 million a day is a more reasonable expectation IMHO.

We are already seeing rates go down among the vaccinated in my state. I We are seeing a moderate surge in cases/hospitalization but in the younger unvaccinated age group. While herd immunity would be the ideal I am ok without it. Those that want to be vaccinated can be and those that want to take their chances can do so as well. Unfortunately the idiot in our statehouse just extended our statewide mask mandate again.

Interesting that the study linked there shows previously recovered covid cases get no further advantage from the second shot.
My $ 0.02 is that the rate of first doses is permanently trending downwards. We might see occasional blips as the J&J one dose vaccine becomes more available.
The vast majority of the most vulnerable, i.e. the over 65s, have already got their first dose. 56% of the TOTAL adult population has got their first dose.
Over 10% of the population has already been infected and many of these don’t think it’s worthwhile to get vaccinated.
The remaining 1/3 are a mixture of hard core anti-vaxxers, under 35s who willing to live with some risk for the time being, and folks who will trickle in for appointments only when it’s convenient for them.
These are pretty much my thoughts as well. I got vaccinated myself. But really it’s a personal decision, and a personal risk, to get vaccinated or remain unvaccinated. IMHO there is no longer an overriding public health reason for lockdowns, quarantines, social distancing and mask mandates.

Underneath those topline numbers is the more important % of adults. About a third of Israelis are under 18, but only about 22.5% of Americans. So 60% of the Israeli population, indicates about 90% of adults - who matter far more for this disease. Currently we are about 56% of adults with a first shot.
Israel made a big effort, with many kinds of carrots and sticks to quickly get 90% of adults before vaccinations tapered off. I doubt we will get as many adults, as quickly, but enough to drive down cases a lot.
The age profile of the UK is much closer to the USA - and we are just now getting to the % where their vaccination rate inflected to a much slower rate.
I agree except there never was a reason for mask mandates and lockdowns.... time to open up.

We also have additional natural exposures every day as well. Estimates are about three unreported cases for every reported positive test. With about 50K reported cases per day, that could mean about 200K per day actual infections (about 1.5 million per week, or about half of a percent of the population per week). That rate was a lot higher back in January.
We are still doing about a million first shots per day, or about two more percent of the population per week.
Before the cold weather, and Cold & Flu season returns, we should have high herd immunity.

The Deep State has control of the media and fake numbers are flowing to falsely portray the ‘vaccines’ as working. Meanwhile, people are harmed by the vaccine and that information is intentionally suppressed. We’re living in 1984 - Big Brother wants to run the US the same way it runs China.

That is like the annual flu shot, when it is going strong. 3 million per day is typically around the very peak daily rate of flu shots, for a few days in September.
The loss of the planned single shot J&J, which was originally planned for approval in February, with 20 million per month starting in March, was a huge setback. We might have had 40 million more people fully vaccinated by now, if their production had worked out better (but they are not really a vaccine company, it is more of a sideline for them, which they have to mostly outsource to sub-contractors)
