COLUMBIA, S.C. —When former vice president Mike Pence reemerged for his first post-White House appearance at a convention center chicken dinner here Thursday night, he did not mention how then-President Donald Trump's supporters marauded through the Capitol on Jan. 6, threatening to hang him. Or that the president attacked him on Twitter for lacking "courage" as the Secret Service rushed him to safety that day. Or the criticism Trump has leveled toward his former No. 2 in recent weeks.
In fact, as Pence met privately with about 400 pastors in the cavernous First Baptist Church downtown and traveled across South Carolina, hobnobbing with and fundraising for Christian groups and conservative candidates, he spoke with an almost reverence about the former president.
What was important, he told supporters, was Trump’s accomplishments in office and how close the two men remain.

I admire how Trump can be polite and generous with people he has a strong disagreement with.
But I doubt he would trust Pence again, and he shouldn’t.
For a brief moment Pence was the most powerful person on the planet.
All he had to say was there is too much controversy regarding the selection and we need to resolve it. There is even precedent for it.
But when the moment came he was a coward.
“The selection” = “this election”

Keep your friends close, and your enemies.....
Does anyone trust the Post?

Pence knew the election was stolen and more importantly, who he was turning the country over to. If there ever was a time for a man, especially a Christian man, to stand for the truth it was then.
Those 400 pastors only should have showed up to turn their backs on Pence when he began speaking. Shame on all of them.
You were right the first time.
He was in the unique position to save the Republic, and he either choked or he is a traitor.
I agree we should keep our enemies close, but let’s give Pence his due, he has the balls to stay on Trumps side at present. That sends a powerful message to Biden’s Democrat deathstar and that is, screw you!
You’re taking the word of WaPo?
Would NEVER vote for that chicken shit pos.
Total fealty? LOL. More like, Total Treachery.
I wonder just when Trump realized what a total fraud Pissy Pence was and is.
#NeverAgain
Pukey Pence, whose BBFs are Paul Ryan and Jeff Flake.

Personally I think he deposed Trump in a defacto 25th after the 6th protest. Think about it. Trump didn’t order over 2 divisions of Army into DC, so who did? How many of Trumps cabinet left? Trump was basically silent after that and gave no pardons of consequence.
I think Trump was told by Pence that he was no longer in charge and that if he was silent, they would let him stay the last two weeks, and leave in relative peace. I think he was told if he resisted the Pence/Pelosi/McConnell junta, they would remove him the next day with the 25th, and prosecute him and his family criminally.
The Rosetta stone is WHO ordered two divisions into DC? THAT is who was president the last two weeks after the 6th.
Hmmm. That is some interesting stuff. Will have to ponder that more. Thanks.
Your scenario is not insane, but I think it does fall apart because of the level of hatred against Trump. If such a situation existed, the Post and Times would have been splashing it on every headline.
Didn’t happen.
Ok. First my bona dudes: Never a Pence fan. I think a much Berger choice of someone more interring could have been made. Still and all, he did a serviceable job, though I wouldn’t have supported him in 24.
Now my question: just what was the precedent you refer to for the highly theoretical proposition he could have prevented the election from being certified? You know, the action that would have gotten both him and Trump impeached for usurpation of power. What was the precedent?
No more Pence, any time, any where and especially in the future. He is a ghost of past bad times.
