"Debunk" has to be the most abused word in the English language at the moment. Positing complete innocence on the part of the Chinese (it's a stretch, I'll admit), one still has to ask, if you found a virus this dangerous, would you feel obliged to investigate it? Yes. And where would the only responsible place to investigate it be? A level four containment facility. Of course it got out, and the initial numbers we got from the Chinese before the politicians clamped down on information control were persuasive that Wuhan was a locus of infection. None of this is, or ought to be, in dispute.

Whether it was a deliberately created bioweapon or not is really quite another question. That the Chinese government's actions on the matter concerning quarantine and international travel were irresponsible to the point where malice is a legitimate suspicion seems undeniable. None of this is conspiracy in any sense.
