Qualified immunity only matters for criminal charges. This POS needs to be sued and pursued until he puts a gun to his mouth just to escape. And yes, the Capitol Police needs to be sued as well. All combined, the suit should be for an astronomical amount — with no agreement to settle.

Examples need to be made. Otherwise it’s a hideous miscarriage of justice.

If that were the case then how did Chauvin wind up on trial?

Qualified immunity protects state and local officials, including police officers, from personal liability unless they are determined to have violated what the court defines as an individual's "clearly established statutory or constitutional rights." It has nothing to do with criminal liability if the officer breaks the law.
