Yes, at the time he said that, it was a left wing party. However, Europeans can no longer conceptualize individualistic political parties. All they have is variants of socialism. To them, which is why I limited my comments to Europe, fascism is a right-wing party, because all they have is socialism.
Fascism is right-wing to communism, but it is to the left of everything else. However, the European cannot conceptualize anything other than communism and fascism. That’s all they got.
All political identities, in Europe, do not differentiate in terms of economics. It’s all socialism. That’s why they define conservatism in terms of tradition and progressivism in terms of change.
In America, fascism is to the left, because we can define differences in terms of statism or individualism and their degrees. In America, politics is much more gradient in nature than in Europe.
Yes, when you include the entire political line graph, it is left-wing, and only to the right of communism. However, in Europe, the entire individualist political definitions are cleaved from any discussion, because individualism politics is extinct for the most part.

Universities teach the European political definitions, which is why they teach fascism as being right wing, because any amount of individualism in politics does not exist in Europe.
